Building Community with their music.”

New Album Coming 2020

Remedy

remembering a way to an imagined future

Piper & Carson's next musical creation is centered on the themes of healing trauma, shifting narratives, reconciliation and seeking wonder. Remedy will be a musical exploration of people’s intersections: showcasing shifting paradigms and encouraging examination. We must reframe our relationship with the planet and move away from the idea of hierarchy; remember everything is cyclical and we have a role to play as stewards. This collection of songs will help disarm the listener and nudge them towards healing, asking questions, reclaiming their power and joy.

Bio

From festival stages to intimate house concerts, Piper & Carson remind us of why we go to see live music. Their songwriting is free and fiercely personal; as if it’s been running in the woods, washing in cold water, and howling with wolves. The couple's undeniable chemistry and onstage presence draw the audience into the conversation. Piper’s immersive storytelling provides context and familiarity bringing their original music to life. After first meeting on Carson’s father’s organic vegetable farm, they’ve spent the last four years touring Canada coast-to-coast, showcasing at international Folk Conferences, touring overseas in the Netherlands and to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In December 2017 they released the album ‘Piper & Carson’ together. Their work is deeply rooted in intention and both strive to use their platform to forward social change and promote mental health awareness. This duo will make you believe that folk music can change the world.

Press Quotes

“Piper & Carson transcend the folk genre to present relatable stories coupled with infectious melodies that delight and resonate from their lives shows to their wondrous commercial recordings.”
- Justin Nordell (Executive Director of the Philadelphia Folksong Society)

“In tandem with her partner Carson Ritcey-Thorpe, Piper has crafted a beautiful set of songs that pay tribute to her late mother. This is a thoughtful, beautiful album whose treasures are unlocked not only on the first listen, but on repeated spins. I look forward to hearing more work from Piper & Carson!.”

Great Dark Wonder, November 2017.

“With so much evil going on in the world and the ever-growing fights for power and recognition, Piper &  Carson are like a breath of pure, fresh air. Their lovely music is authentic and sincere with deeply moving lyrics that give us a glimpse into a better world, into a way of living that enriches the soul. They eschew commercialism, embrace the trials and tribulations of our living experience and have  true artist's sensibilities.”
-
Lillian Wauthier (Acoustic Harvest, Toronto’s Celebrated East End Folk & Roots Series)

“The Harmonies in tandem with Carson Ritcey-Thorpe were spot on and Hayes went in search of the vulnerability and the hope in the songs, burnishing them to a shine via her forceful vocals and from the gut lyrics.”
- Lenny Stout (Cashbox Canada )
